Drece L. Guy Bio
Drece is a Ball State University graduate who has a heart for the arts! During his younger years, Drece enjoyed the character “JJ” who was portrayed as an artist on the show Good Times (which displayed the works of Ernie Barnes). Drece was also fascinated by the graffiti displayed in 1980s breakdancing movies. Drece’s impressions of art were nurtured by his Middle School Art Teacher, Mr. Jordan and High School Art Teachers, Mrs. Waldschimdt and Mrs. Sanders.
Around 2011, Drece’s passion for creating art was rekindled after participating in an oil painting class. Years later, Drece transitioned to acrylic painting. Drece’s goal is to create artwork that expresses intense emotions and speaks to the soul.
Drece is a self-taught abstract expressionist that describes painting as a form of expression that exudes freedom, joy and peace. Drece is inspired by creation, his faith and gospel music, which guides him to create bright, bold, and vivid pieces.
Drece has been inspired by local Fort Wayne artists, Michael D. Johnson and Theo Smith, and influenced by the works of John Beckley. Drece would like to create more theme based works and explore other forms of art in the future. As a middle-aged man, husband, and father of three little princesses, Drece’s familial values and compassion leads him to having his strong, artistic flow in the art community!
